Our “Way to Zero”: Electric mobility with a clear vision
As a leading mobility service provider, we safely transport thousands of passengers to their destinations every day. At the same time, we are embracing our responsibility by steadily expanding our use of electric mobility.
For BLAGUSS, e-mobility is a key strategic pillar of our future direction.
Electric buses have already been operating in regional public transport in Lower Austria and Burgenland since the end of 2024. In spring 2025, electric hop-on hop-off buses for tourist transport in Vienna were added.
In 2026, BLAGUSS reached the next major milestone in the electrification of its bus fleet with the introduction of battery-electric coaches.
The transition to an electric bus fleet
With twelve state-of-the-art, long-range electric coaches from leading global manufacturer Yutong, we are expanding our fleet with the latest in electric mobility.**
We are proud to be among the first leading mobility providers to offer our passengers and business partners battery-electric buses for both coach travel and long-distance scheduled services. Roof-mounted solar power: smart energy on the move
BLAGUSS takes a comprehensive approach to expanding e-mobility: tombining electric mobility, our own energy generation, modern infrastructure and technological solutions for future-oriented bus operations.
Together with our partner Green Energy, we are also implementing innovative technologies with measurable benefits across our existing fleet. Our bus fleet is being gradually equipped with solar panels on the roofs, which have been proven to improve efficiency in day-to-day operations.
Our commitment to expanding e-mobility goes beyond investing in new electric buses. We invest not only in new drive technologies, but also in smart solutions designed to continuously improve the day-to-day operation of our fleet.
Solar energy for electric buses
- Generation of approximately 500–600 kWh of solar power per year and vehicle, fed directly into the onboard electrical system
- Reduced external energy demand for the onboard electrical system
- Reduced load on the 24-volt system
- Extended battery life
- Increased range
Savings potential for diesel vehicles
- Savings of up to 2,052 litres of fuel per diesel bus per year
- Reduction of up to 5.4 tonnes of CO₂ per vehicle per year
The stated potential savings are based on the results of a six-month pilot project involving 17 buses. Actual results may vary depending on the vehicle, solar system and operating conditions.
Charging infrastructure & solar energy: advancing electric mobility
BLAGUSS is investing not only in electric buses, but in the entire foundation of modern electric mobility.
This includes:
- charging infrastructure
- photovoltaic systems
- energy storage
- and intelligent systems for using self-generated electricity
This creates an innovative energy concept that supports the operation of electric buses while also strengthening energy efficiency across the company.
By expanding our photovoltaic systems at our main site in Vienna and at our Vösendorf location, we are strengthening our energy supply across multiple sites. We provide the long-distance bus terminal as well as our Mattersburg and Oberpullendorf locations with solar power. In this way, we are creating an interconnected energy concept that supports the operation of electric buses, increases our energy efficiency and further strengthens our long-term energy independence. Another positive effect is that we feed surplus energy into the public grid, thereby actively contributing to the energy transition.
Through targeted investments in our own energy infrastructure, we are actively promoting energy independence and expanding it step by step. For us, one thing is clear: electric mobility and sustainability do not end with the vehicle they begin with the infrastructure behind it.
